Hope Notes and Ideas

In addition to immersing yourself in hope quotes, here are some inspirational ideas to help you keep yourself in more hopeful days than not.

  • Get out your happiness box. Click here to learn what it is and how to make one for yourself.

  • Read books containing messages and stories of hope. Our favorites are Chicken Soup for the Soul.

  • Watch the Big Idea on CNBC on television. Even though the focus of the program is building your own business, there are many great inspirational stories of how people have persevered in times of hopelessness.

  • Watch inspirational and movies of hope that show how people live in the present and enjoy life no matter how difficult their circumstances. Great examples are “The Peaceful Warrior” and “The Bucket List.”

  • Join a support group for the particular health challenge you are facing or even a general chronic pain support group. This is an ideal way to pull yourself out of the feelings of hopelessness. Sometimes just getting yourself out of the house so that you don’t feel isolated can help. Seeing how others deal with their health challenges can inspire you that there is always hope.

  • Only give your money to doctors that are supportive of you. Some doctors have terrible bedside manners and can steal your hope. An excellent book to read to help you stand up to hope stealing medical professionals is “Love, Medicine, and Miracles” by Bernie Siegel. Always remember, it is your body and your life. Your doctor works for you. Find great doctors and medical professionals to be your partner.

  • Guard yourself from friends and family that steal your hope. They mean well; but many times if they have not walked in your shoes, they cannot even begin to understand how and what you are feeling. It takes energy to deal with pain and health challenges and yet more energy to maintain an attitude of hope. Either limit your time with friends and family or remove them from your life all together.

  • Create a list of people that are hope builders for the times when you begin feeling hopeless. Contact these people when you need some support. If you are comfortable, let them know that they are on your hope builder list. Tell them that you want to be able to touch base with them when feelings of desperation creep in. Let them know that you want to be able to contact them for whatever you need at the moment. For example: get a quick pick me up, escape your troubles for a moment, have someone for a listening ear, simply a safe place to cry, hear a good joke or story, get a hug or a short face to face visit. Also, be the person on someone else’s hope builder list. Helping someone else can help you to re-build your own hope.

  • Build a support team of more than one or two people. Try not to contact the same person for things you need. Remember that people’s lives are busy and we all have our own problems. People like to help, but it is important to not overwhelm others with your challenges.

  • Immerse yourself in a book full of hope quotes and other inspirational quotations.

  • List of favorite websites and forums that help you to feel better and put hope back in your spirit. (Don’t to forget to put inspirational-quotes-and-notes.com on your list)

May comfort be yours! Here’s to you in feeling fantastic and hopeful.
