- When you are consumed with pain, it is not hard for inspiration to slip away. One of the easiest ways to get re-inspired even on a high pain day is to escape into a movie showing how others deal adversity. Three of our favorites are:
The Peaceful Warrior
The Legend of Bagger Vance
The Shawshank Redemption
For more movies to boost your spirit when you are down, try spiritualcinemacircle.com. There is a large selection of movies to help you.
- Books are another method to re-ignite the spirit inside of you. The Chicken Soup For the Soul series are always reliable and quick to read.
High pain days can also cause fatigue. Simply put, pain can cause you to feel emotionally spent. A great self-help book to beat emotional fatigue is called, The Emotional Energy Factor by Mira Kirshenbaum. Mira provides twenty different techniques to implement in your life to help bring back energy in your life.
- Join a support group. Listen to the positive ways that others live a meaningful life in spite of their present circumstances.
- Join a group where you have a shared hobby or interest. Sometimes just getting out of the house and being around others can help you to feel inspired again. A great resource to locate groups in your area is called meetup.com. There is everything available from people that go see movies together, walking groups, book clubs etc. Just go to the site and enter your area of interest into the search box.
- Go to a neighborhood playground and watch the kids. They are a great example of how to enjoy life and live in the present.
- Go to a nearby bookstore and immerse yourself in your favorite topics or book categories. Many of the stores now have comfy couches and chairs. Pull a couple of books and magazines to enjoy.
Personal note: When I need a moment of inspiration, I go to the self-help or positive thinking section where I can pull books with inspirational quotes. I usually try to find ones with beautiful photos or colorful graphics. Then, I take the book and sit in the café area where I can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. I leaf through the section where I need the most inspiration and just check into another world. An hour later I can feel revitalized and inspired again.
May comfort be yours! Here’s you in feeling inspired.
