Nature Notes and Ideas

In addition to immersing yourself in the wisdom of nature quotes and inspirational quotations, simply spend some time outside and observe.

If you need more distraction and if it is possible for you to walk, go outside and simply walk around the block. (Sometimes people will recommend when you are in pain, to try to sit quietly and meditate. For us, depending on the type of pain at that moment, sitting quietly can many times be unbearable. We prefer a walking type of meditation)

Go with the intention of finding something beautiful in nature that is thriving in spite of adversity. Examples that you could find could be:

  • A weed growing in the middle of someone’s front yard landscaped with rock.
  • A bunny rabbit that races across the road in the middle of traffic.
  • Plants and grass that sprout and grow in an area that previously burned with fire.
  • Or the ant that carries a piece of popcorn that is 100 times his size across the sidewalk.

There are many subtle examples.

During your walk of distraction or walk of meditation. Simply notice the beauty.

  • The one red flower in the gathering of all yellow flowers.
  • The ladybug on a blade of grass.
  • The bird collecting twigs, string, and whatever else to build a nest.

If your pain levels have eased a bit and your body can tolerate some stillness, then find a soft patch of grass and lay down. Enjoy the warmth of the sun. If there are clouds, then create pictures from the clouds.

Do anything using the beauty of your surroundings to fill yourself up, ease the stress caused by pain, and hopefully feel stronger and renewed to face the challenges you are presently facing.

If you are not able to walk or get outside, then try bringing the beauty of nature to yourself inside. If you can sit, go to the computer and Google beautiful images. Some of our favorites are of beaches, tropical islands, dolphins, and animals. Just enter your item of interest into the Google search box. Click on the link above the search box called images. All kinds of images will come up for you.

Another way to escape your pain using nature quotes and images is to go to YouTube.com and enter what you are looking for in the search box. An example might be ocean waves. Several videos will come up where you can distract yourself from your pain by viewing the waves.

Beautiful photographs from places like Flickr.com and Shutterfly.com can also be a great distraction. Just like Google.com and YouTube.com, simply enter what you want to view into the search box. Enjoy the many pictures of people that people like to share.

(On a tough pain day, we like to open Flickr and enter in cats. Who would have thought so many people like to share pictures of their beautiful and also quirky cats)

May comfort be yours! Here’s to you in feeling fantastic.
